How many credit cards does Apple Pay hold?

I currently have 8 credit cards entered into my Apple Pay account. I tried to enter a couple more and when I tried to tap the + sign and add more the + wasn't lit up. I guess 8 cards is the max!! Has anyone else tried to add more?
