Spotlight search won't find apps (iPhone 6/iOS 8.1.2)

I Just noticed this issue on my 6. I went into spotlight and I unselected Applications and then selected it again after a few minutes. Apps are showing up in searches once again. Very odd issue indeed.

I've tried this one and it seemed to work UNTIL you reboot your iPhone. The same issue is happening again after the reboot. It is getting very disturbing because I shut off my phone every night when I go to bed.

One more comment on this issue, I have two iPhone 6 and one iPhone 6 Plus. After testing with 3 of them, it happened to be only 1 of them has this issue. Anyone got any ideas on why?

How much Kudos would Apple receive to respond in forums like this with 'we're working on it folks'

This just happened to me on iOS 9.0.2 - restarting didn't help, toggled spotlight app search on and off, nothing. Emailed myself from iCloud to my Apple user ID and read the email, boom the apps show up in Spotlight again.

This new search is highly frustrating. I only want to use the spotlight search to find app (as finding app is a nightmare); you could do this easily till a few years back by switching all searches off (calendar, emails etc) but now they have overcomplicated it. As soon as you type something, it brings numerous pages and you have scroll down to search for your app, so you have to do another search for searching the app, and at times its intact quicker to start searching the app manually. Can someone please help me configure spotlight to only search apps?
