I get duplicate photos when I sync my iPhone 6
When I plug my iPhone 6 into my iMac, duplicates of each photo on my camera roll appear in iPhoto.
I have Photo turned off in iCloud.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem and the latest OS did not fix the issue.
I think the problem lies in the fact that there is a backup on the no sync PC and it tries to restore the photos when it shouldn't. This in my opinion (I am an experienced programmer) is a bug in iTunes as there should be no sync or interfering of the photos if there is no photos sync requested by the user.
The duplicates disappear when I sync the device with the sync computer, this is possibly why the original poster thinks the bug has been fixed.
This is not a streaming problem, because I do not use streaming. This is not an iCloud problem. Don't use iCloud. Not a new problem. I have had it for years. Now I am on a MacBook Pro with El Capitan, and it still happens. Some, not all -- not even many, photos on the iPhone 6 are treated as "new" photos and duplicated to the MacBook via USB connection, even though they have been copied over previously.
It is quite annoying that I can find no good solution to this, and some people seem to indicate on this forum that Apple is just now discovering it as some kind of new problem.
I guess I'll have to work around it somehow.
For me, the solution was easy, you can try it and see if it helps you too ...
Settings~~>Photos&Camera~~~>On the bottom the is a button that says 'Keep normal photo', turn it off ...
I didn't read everything here on this topic, so I'm sorry if someone explained this trick earlier.
Finally an answer, I was shooting in HDR and had the slide to "keep normal photo on" when I shut that off it stopped duplicating photos. I think this bug only appears if you are shooting in HDR mode and have "keep normal photo" in the on position. Either turn off HDR on phone, i think or shut off keep normal photo.

thx
I was getting the same problem and this is what worked for me.
On your comp go to iTunes and into the iPhone section. From there click on photos from the left hand side and then click on sync photos. Make sure NOT to select "all photos and albums" instead select "selected albums." Make sure no albums or faces or whatever is selected. When that is done sync once more and the duplicates should be taken out of your phone.

Ive had this problem for years! Thanks for your solution, its worked, though its not very logical or intuitive!! Come on Apple, you can do better!!
The photos in your camera roll are sync'd to your photo library over iCloud.
Then when you sync the iPhone to your computer, the photos on your computer are then sync'd to your iPhone.
So now you have tthe same photo in your Camera Roll and in your photo library on your iPhone.
Delete the photos in your Camera Roll and sync from your computer the photos you want on the iPhone.
Thanks so much!! Been fighting this issue for years and your trick worked!! Just deleted 1600 duplicates from my phone.
