If you have an iPhone 4 or older you can not have iOS 8; it isn't compatible. And if you have any other model iPhone you can't have iOS 8, because it isn't the latest version of iOS for your phone.

Yes. That is correct, it you have an iPhone 4 there is no way you can install iOS 8 on it.
