Best note taking pad for Mac?

Hi,

I am currently a college student and I was wondering if there are any good external pads out there that I can use to take notes with in classes, I am trying to go paperless and so I need that freedom on the Mac that I have with the traditional pen and paper. I need to draw diagrams and sometimes annotate imported PDFs.

I have done some research and found a company called Wacom that do these, are they any good? And if so what note taking apps are they compatible with?

My notes include a lot of diagrams and annotations which is why I need something like a stylus on an external pad. Nothing too extreme like for art or architecture, just note taking.
