how long does the battery of an iPad mini (the first one) last if it's used only as a hotspot device?

do you recommend using this ipad as a hotspot device when travelling internationally?
So far in my international travels I have never had the need to use anything to provide a hotspot. All the places I have gone had wireless available.

Where do you plan to travel?
I'll travel to a place with no wifi available everywhere, I need a data only SIM card.
instead of buying a hotspot device, I wanna use my ipad mini if the battery is decent for this function.
So far in my travels, it has been my experience that wireless is more available overseas then it is stateside. Where is this place?
