upgraded to Yosemite but now cannot open any photos from IPhoto

I upgraded to Yosemite a couple of weeks ago but now cannot open any photos from IPhoto, The app opens and I can see the photos there but cannot open them up. Any help would be very much appreciated

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

why can you "not open them"?

What version of iPhoto?

Try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database
