MIDI issues with LOGIC PRO X and KORG synthesizer

The problem : I have three failed choices. My synthesizer is connected to Logic. I can only hear what I record in the speakers of my synthesizer.

1 - Make a audio track. Record my melody into logic from the synthesizer. Playback (on mac) a poor quality recording. THE PROS: This track is savable and I can move it around in the tracks.

2- Make a software instrument track. Choose (in my inspector) the external plugin as KORG CHROME. I record - and bam! My playback ONLY plays through the speakers connected to my synthesizer. NOTHING in my mac's speakers plays any sound. I can't SAVE or BOUNCE this track. Nothing shows up but a lonely metronome. Additionally, if I was playing a Grand piano and switch to drums (making a new software instrument track below the original Grand Piano) Logic chooses to play only Drums or Piano.

3- MAke a External Midi track. I choose my synthesizer. I get the same results as option 2.

PLEASE help. I've been at this for four days

I have LOGIC PRO X 10.1

I have a mac Yosemite.

I'm having one minor problem.

Everything is set up exactly how you explained, with that said it's been working as it should be.

However, there is an occasional lag time in which my KROME is not picked up by logic. The tascam is connected, but when I play a note I see/hear no audio in logic. Randomly, it connects, as it it never happened. So, this ever happen to you?

If i understand correctly what you are describing and if you mean when you first play a note in the first region.. it doesn't always play...That's how Logic works.. You need to send, say a brief bit of Mod wheel input... to wake up Logic and get it's buffering started so when you play the first note it's ready for input..

This is why I always make sure that the of any track in a project, doesn't actually play until Bar 2.... so Logic has 1 whole bar to prep and buffer..

If I misunderstood the issue however, let us know please.....

Perfect. We share the same solution. I bring to you... another question.

Check out this reference video: (Start around 3:05 to see the vinyl work, and 3:53 to see what I want to do) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtyHIXQj3sI

I bought a record player. I want to make beats in the same manner as the man in the video. I recorded the audio in from the vinyl w/ the record player usb no problem, it's in logic.

I dont know the terminology, but the guy seems to hot wire his external keyboard to play what he recorded off the vinyl in different regions (on the keyboard). I'm betting he wires and configures the whole thing through logic. I tried saving the audio off my vinyl as a unique channel performance and then loading that performance into my KROME. Didn't work. You're a god to me so I figured i'd send you another prayer.

Hi Adam,

It's called Sampling.... 🙂

You can cut up your recorded audio into sections.. and then add it to a sampler.. For example.. the built in EXS24...

You assign the different samples to different keys or zones... and then press the keys or pads on your midi controller/keyboard to play back the samples...

Here's an tutorial........ on how to achieve this...

It's that time.

Logic, after I played in drums off of my external Krome, has a bug which, without shutting off, plays whatever instrument my Krome is playing, over and over and over again. So basically there's a jammed note. I tried deleting in the GO finder menu ".com.apple.logic.pro.cs/.plist" and reopening logic and nothing happened.

The road has become bumpy again.

Hi Adam,

It could be many different things so here are a few possibilities...

It sounds like your audio cables are not correctly/fully plugged into your Krome's outputs... or the inputs on the Tascam..

or... your Tascan is not set up correctly

or... You have a flaky audio cable

or... You are not selecting the correct inputs in Logic coming from your Tascam.....

or.... Your Tascan is playing up.... after an Update to OS X for example...

See if any of those are the cause....

If not, let us know...

Looks like my reply never sent, sorry for the wait.

It was the 1/4 inch cable - it was unplugged halfway after my cat sat on my korg. I keep sending you simple fixes and I do apologize for that. However, I already recorded a full song where the left cord was unplugged, is there anyway to simulate / fix this problem so the sound comes out both speakers?
