Could anybody please advise on how to uninstall Outlook for Mac and Lync from a MacBook? I have followed instructions listed in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768, however, Lync and Outlook for Mac are still present.

If you followed the removal instructions to the letter, then it couldn't possibly still be there. Check the list of items to remove again.
I am not talking about Outlook 2011 (part of O365 subscription). I am talking about Outlook for Mac. The instructions listed in the KB has removed Office for Mac 2011, however, Lync and Outlook for Mac are still not getting uninstalled.
Please assist.
Outlook 2011 IS Outlook for Mac. If you're talking about something else, then you need to be much more specific.
Outlook is part of Office for Mac 2011. If you deleted the folder Microsoft Office 2011 from the Applications folder, which is step 2 in the linked instructions, then Outlook couldn't help being removed with it since it's in that folder.
Have no idea what Lync is. That isn't part of Office.

Reformatting the drive to get rid of one app is massive overkill. It's just a matter of finding it.
What you linked to is not part of Office 2011. Outlook in Office 2011 is version 14. The download is version 15, and is a desktop portion of Office 365.
There are only four items installed by this package. Locate and remove:
1) Microsoft Outlook - /Applications
2) Microsoft AutoUpdate - /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/
3) com.microsoft.office.licensing.helper.plist - /Library/LaunchDaemons/
4) com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.helper - /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/
If you are talking about the downloads, select them and then command - delete to move them to the trash. Then empty the trash.
Issue resolved with first step. 🙂
