Email to me bounced back to sender!

Hello,

In my work I rely upon my macs and other Apple devices for getting email from a quasi-governmental agency in California called Regional Centers. Regional Centers provide services for developmentally disabled persons.

I have been using the same @mac.com email address for many years, but recently email they send to me is bounced back to them with a message that it is undeliverable. I am wondering if this might have something to do with the release of Yosemite, or if the release of Yosemite and these new email problems I am having is just a coincidence. I am curious if anybody else is experiencing similar problems.

I am not an expert at this and have no idea how to proceed from here. Any ideas or advice about what to do next would be very much appreciated.

Very best regards to all and Happy Holidays!

Patrick

Oh.... I don't know if it is important but I use two Macs, a new iMac (the one with the new super-duper display, whatever that's called), and a 17" Mac Pro. Both run Yosemite. Also use a newer iPad and an iPhone (5s) running the latest iOS software.

OK...there have been some new developments with this issue …

I just got off the phone with someone from this agency's internet department. We had someone else on the phone from the agency, and that person was one who had been trying to send me an email and the email bounced back to them. When either of them sent me an email it bounced back to them.Looking into it the guy from the Internet Department found that the mail was bounced back as spam.

So, I guess I need to change the settings for spam on my computers.

I have gone to the Mail app's Preferences on my new Mac and my MacPro laptop and enabled Junk Mail Filtering. All of these people have been entered into my contact list now. Most of the people already were, but I have now updated the few people who were not.

I am wondering whether or not I need to enable Junk Mail filtering not just on my new mac, but if I have to also set it separately on my laptop, iPhone, iPad, and also on iCloud????

I don't really know if mail has preferences on all of these devices. I am thinking that junk mail settings may be only on my laptop and my new Mac. Am I correct about that??

I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 on my new Mac and 10.10.2 on my Macbook Pro 17".

I am running the latest iOS system on my phone and my iPad.

Here are my preferences settings on my mail app for the new mac and the laptop.... (see attached image).

What happens if I choose "Reset"?? Anybody recommend that???

Thank you,

OK. Now I think I understand what I have to do, but I do not understand where I have to do it.

If my incoming mail is addressed to me at xxx@mac.com, then how do I make changes on that server?

Would the settings for my incoming email be available to me on the iCloud mail app? Or in the iCloud's "settings"?

I am not at all sure where to go.

I have to say it seems odd to me that all of these problems began after I installed Yosemite, but you seem very sure that there is no connection between these two events - the installation of Yosemite, and the appearance of email problems from only one sender.

Sorry to all.

But I am very unsatisfied about the reason to eliminate BOUNCE TO SENDER option in Mail application. When I use SnowLeopard, all works fine in that way. Because in my busyness web there are a lot people that copy my email and send spam repeatedly.

I suggest to Apple return the choice to Yosemite or the next version of OS X. Not all the email servers I use is iCloud.

Cheers
