thinking of switching from PC to mac, sugestions/comments?

I have had PCs for many years and in the last 5 years have been having significant problems. so in researching a new computer many people have suggested Mac. in doing research mac sounds great, but am a little scared to change from what i have known since i was a kid. However, I am sick and tired of spending all my time trying to fix problems with windows, I am a medical student and have no time to waste. I would need to get a laptop and am looking to get it in next few weeks.

My thoughts exactly. I cannot stand when people say OS X "just works". That is so dumb. and that commercial about saying that the mac is ready to go right out of the box where as you have to have a bunch of updates for PC....I had to update my laptop a whole bunch when I first got it. I also hate how they say that you never have to restart like you do on a PC, I have to restart OS X from updates so much more than I do in XP it's not even funny.

That being said, I DO like OS X (and XP) a lot, I just think that the blatant one sided lies people (and ads) say about how much simpler OS X is and how much of a pain XP is are just idiotic. I don't think I have ever had trouble using XP before in my life. I switched to mac in May and I love it because I can use both great OS's.

If you want to play around with a mac and see if its the right fit for you I suggest you do the following.
Buy a second hand iMac at geeks.com for $58 bucks. Load Mac OSX and give it a shot.
Or you can check ebay for an old G4 or G5 witgh OSX on it. maybe get lucky and find one with tons of Applications.
I work on a Macbook Pro and I run Windows on Parallels just incase I need to do somthing that requires IE. I use Windows less and less everyday since I switched.
