Instantly play .avi file on ipad

I'm a hunter and have several trail cameras that I use to monitor the game activity in the woods. They all record video in .avi format to my SD cards. I have a SD card reader that I plug into the charging port and can use to transfer the file and upload it to my iPad easily. However, I cannot view or play the .avi file on the iPad. I know there are apps that will allow me to view the files, but all that I've researched require me to connect to iTunes to sync before I can view them in the app which defeats the purpose of using the iPad. I don't have a wireless connection or 3G capability so I need a stand alone solution that would not require connecting to a different device. I want to be able to remove the SD card from the trail camera, plug it into the card reader, upload, and instantly view the .avi files from the card on the iPad. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. But if I can't view the files on the iPad right there with an app or something, then I'll just continue to swap the cards out and bring them home to view them. I would really like to use the iPad to view the files right then and there.
