Tried to install a Samsung ML-1210 on Mac Mini under OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. Both the Samsung-Printer-Installer and the Adding-a-printer process failed. Printer connected via USB was recognized.

Sorry, but I did not succeed despite installation of drivers recommended.
Print jobs are reported as Completed, however no activity from the printer.
Diagnosis report says: Samsung_ML-1210: The function 'CGContextErase' is obsolete and will be romoved in an upcoming update. Unfortunately this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.
Shall I wait for this update or is there another solution?

Did you make sure that you used the OLDER version of the driver ? I sometimes have issues with getting the printer to register on the USB bus - I've tried restarting the printer and that seems to work. Otherwise it looks like the print jobs complete and nothing comes form the printer. At present my system preferences shows the printer as off-line despite the fact it is on and connected to my machine. However it still seems to print. I'm not sure if there is any dependency on X11 - I have xquartz (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/) installed on my system and CGContextErase is a call related to graphics processing.
Used the older version of driver. Get all symptoms as described by you, only difference NO PRINT ! Xquartz did not make a change. No idea about CGContexErase.
I'm afraid I'll have to install Windows 8.1 on Boot Camp.
Hey, it works now - not perfect but somehow useable. Key was to get of this Sandbag. Foomatic-RIP from the 30th Jan 2008 apparently helped to get the top lines printed, bottom lines are still not there and I hope to find a solution to that problem as well.
