iTunes: multiple "sign in" required on launch

iTunes 12 requires me to sign in on 4 screens each time I launch the app on my macbook pro... to access cloud (which I don't use), access account, check for downloads, and something else also. Why am I prompted to sign in so many times? Is there a way to minimize this? I'm generally only attempting to update my podcast library for my iPod, not making purchases. Using strong passwords so this is a real pain in the neck. I don't want to save passwords because this is on a computer shared in the home. I searched preferences and found no solution. I did a broader search on web (and in apple community) but found nothing similar.

I see another person had this problem and logged a request for help at: iTunes Asks For My Password Every Time It Opens

There have been no replies yet, but 3 other people have the same problem.

This morning my sign-in experience was this:

Launched iTunes and prompted these three times:

• sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads…

then:

• sign-in required to check for downloads…

then:

• sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads…

So, the problem still exists.

I have tried that in the past and it would work for a few days and then come back. I signed out and in again and after four prompts for my user ID/password when entered correctly each time, it stopped asking and signed me in (?). After the second sign out and reboot of iTunes, no more prompts. I will see how this turns out over the next few days.

This has been driving me nuts for awhile, to the point I avoid using iTunes unless I have to.

If it has to do with Safari cookie preferences and/or reseting Safari, then they need to fix that, not just tell people to quit using features that should have nothing to do with whether I use iTunes.

I've bought one album twice, because iTunes signed out of the cloud, at least in one area. Actually I had the songs on another compilation as well, so 3 times. But none of the songs were showing up in iTunes, despite the fact I had signed in, and was obviously signed into the store to buy it again.

I usually get one sign in request for the cloud, followed by two identical ones for "downloads". Sometimes I get a fourth one as well.

Going into iTunes is a chore. iTunes is central to the fortunes of Apple. This is not how you compete with the emerging services. I tried to sign up for the Apple Music Family membership to give it a try. I don't think I got the Family one I was trying for, but I can't find the information anywhere, and there is no was I can discern to upgrade.

It's a moot point anyway. I'm only using iTunes when I absolutely have to, which is less and less. I never want to. And it used to be my go to application (I'm a musician, and I'm listening or making music all the time).

Now, it's a drag.
