Some iPhones use a lot of data. That has nothing to do with the phone; it's a choice made by the user. There are probably more opportunities to use data on an iPhone than there are on an Android-based phone. But there are also fine-grained ways to manage that data usage. Most months my phone uses about 500 MB. The most I have ever used is 1 GB. But I choose which apps are allowed to use cellular data (rather than WiFi), and which ones can do it in background.
iOS does not use inherently more data than any other platform. your usage will be determined mostly by what services you have turned on and how much your apps use.
The amount of data that any given device uses depend entirely on what you do with it, even if attempting to compare two different devices with different operating systems. No real way to answer that question.
