1400x1050 Resolution in Mac OS X?

Hi,

I'm trying to connect a MacBook Pro to an LCD projector with a native resolution of 1400x1050. Unfortunately the highest 4:3 resolution that Mac OS X offers is 800x600. It's not a limitation of the hardware, as Windows 7 in Bootcamp has no problem displaying the correct resolution.

I've tried using the utility SwitchResX to create a custom resolution, but the highest I've had success with is 1024x768.

Is using Windows my only option if I want to display images on that projector at full quality, or is there a way of getting its native resolution in Mac OS X?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
