Thanks, your messages were helpful. My iMac is not a G5 , but I don't know what "G" it is. I can not turn it on as the power button broke. However, I went to that IFIXIT site that was part of the replies. IFIXIT listed iMacs by ENC #. Mine is 2106 and they had a 2105. The bottom panel photos of the 2105 look just like my 2106. I will use the 2105 procedure to remove my hard drive . Many thanks again.

I can't find anything on an EMC 2106 either, maybe it was an education model? Anyway I was looking at the guide for the 2105 and noticed something else that you might want to do while you're in there....replace the PRAM battery. You can see it in step 10.
