Deleting emails from the server

All emails are being returned & incoming emails cannot be deleted as a message is telling me that the mailbox is full.

I am trying in vain to delete the emails from the server, but all online instruction show how to delete from a POP account.

My emails are on an IMAP account.

Any help / advise would be gratefully received.
