iPhone won't make call with OnStar

I hope someone will be able to help me. I have an iPhone 5s and a 2011 Chevrolet equinox. Until recently, I had no problems. Several months ago, the phone feature stopped working through The Bluetooth system. I can tell Siri to place the call by using Bluetooth, but when it actually starts the call, the Bluetooth disconnects and I have to use the phone.I have tried simply dialing a phone number hoping that the Bluetooth would pick it up, When someone calls me, the phone rings through the speaker system, clearly through the Bluetooth link, but when I answer the phone, the Bluetooth disconnects. I was on the old operating system, but I upgraded to 8.1.2 to see if I could fix it. It did not help. I have deleted the link to the phone and re-sync to my phone several times.I truly hope there's someone out there who can tell me which magic button I'm missing because you will make my day! Thank you to all who have read this and anyone who is willing to help me.

Hi TheJeepGirl,

To troubleshoot this issue where your Bluetooth is being disconnected from your car's system, please follow the information outlined below.

Bluetooth disconnects, intermittent connectivity, or unable to find

  • Move your iOS device closer to the Bluetooth accessory.
  • Position your iOS device and Bluetooth accessory in direct line of sight of each other. For example, move the Bluetooth accessory and iOS device to the same side of your body.
  • Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if performance improves.
  • Check for sources of potential interference and move both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory away from other electronic devices.
  • Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings.

If your device is still experiencing issues

If the steps above have not resolved the Bluetooth behavior you are experiencing, perform a software restore in iTunes.

If the issue persists after restoring your iOS device in iTunes, contact Apple for support and service options.

Hi, I have an OnStar subscription and have purchased some minutes. However, I have been able use the car's Bluetooth feature to place calls on my iPhone and make calls hands free, thus not using the OnStar minutes, which are expensive. I noticed that this stopped working a few months ago, but not around a time that I (knowingly) updated my phone's software. I can tell the phone to make a call using the car's bluetooth, but when the actual call starts, the call is only on my phone and not working through the car's bluetooth - VERY inconvenient when heavy traffic and someone is giving me directions to a location.
