unpartitioning a mac disk

hello fellow mac users. i recently partitioned a part of my hard drive thinking i could install Windows XP on my mac, but i didnt have the right cd for installing XP. i had the update. i have decided that i dont want install XP anymore, and want to erase that specific patition without erasing my whole harddrive because i have about 1200 songs on here and all my papers for school. if anyone knows about a 3rd party application that will allow me to erase only that specific partition, please let me know as soon as possible. you can re-post to this or (preferably) email me at zamar721@comcast.net. thanx.

If you did the partition using bootcamp then relaunch the bootcamp assistant application (in Applications/Utilities). There is an option to remove the windows partition. If you did not use the bootcamp assistant to create your partition then you have no choice but to repartition your drive to restore it back to one partition.

Hi, I tried going to Boot Camp Assistant, but it won't let me remove the partition, it says "Your Startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition", then it tells me to go to disk utility, but the earse button is greyed out, I can't remove the the partition. Thanks.
