Apple TV and Lacie NAS

I am using a 1 TB Lacie NAS for storing all my stuff (video, foto and music). The NAS is connected to the TV via cable and to the Apple MAC via ethernet. I woul like to unload/buy also movies from Itunes, move them to the NAS and to see them on the TV. But unfortunately the format is not compatible. So I believe I have to buy an Apple TV, to connect it to the NAS and to the TV in order to get it done. Is it right?

appletv can't talk with nas at all appletv talk with computer shared itunes libs only! the media may be located on the nas mine is

but the mac needs to be on and the media needs to be added to itunes

My ITunes library is currently on the NAS and when I use MAC, ITunes links that library.

This should be a limitation for Apple TV since it is not a mass storage and neither the MAC is a mass storage. And without Apple TV there is no way to watch Apple movies on the TV. It is disappointing.
