Trying to delete the AOL desktop software from the system and am not able to do so, what am I missing? Thank you for the assistance.

Download AppCleaner and use that to delete the AOL desktop software. This is what I'm using when I install AOL every few weeks to see if they managed to fix the crashing issue.
Still crashes as of today 1/16 with current download from AOL's site.
Hello Corellia16: thank you for the help, will use the app noted. I too keep checking to see if the AOL desktop works and it doesn't. If you see it does work someday, please post a note, I will do the same.
