''Sim Not Valid'' on activation screen! *PLEASE HELP*

I have purchased the iPhone 6 64GB Silver from Verizon Wireless. I purchased it on November 18th 2014 and i was able to use the phone under the Verizon Network for 2 days I asked Verizon as ALWAYS to have to Unlocked because i was leaving the country in business trip for a week and therefor i wanted to use my iPhone with the Vodafone Network as i have always done this with the previous iPhone's under Verizon network. When i had my iPhone 5 & iPhone 5S i have called Verizon to have it unlocked and therefor they have done it, but now with the new iPhone 6 they tell me that its a 4G Phone and its already unlocked sir, there is nothing they can do to unlock it any further but in reality the iPhone 6 its Lock to Verizon Wireless Network, according to Apple, and Vodafone they both say that its Locked to Verizon Wireless, that's what it shows in their system. Now i have called Verizon and asked them again to unlock my iPhone which they insist and tell me the same thing over and over even their Manager and Global Team Support including the Supervisors they all say the same thing that the iPhone is Unlocked!!!! Now i have contacted Apple again this time Apple said that it is locked to Verizon is what they see on their computer that this IME#354409063763754 is showing Locked to Verizon once again and again and AGAIN! so who is lying here Apple or Verizon?!? Interesting! one of the Apple costumer care could not believe my story after speaking to 5 different one from Apple and 38 different from Verizon, and there for she decided to call Verizon and find out why aren't they unlocking my device. now, after being on the phone 3 way me Apple care and Verizon for 15min Verizon hangs up the phone on Apples face and tells me I can Not Believe they hang up on my face! interesting huh? Well Apple care then said ill transfer you to Seignior Adviser for further help there is nothing that she could do, but transfer me to much higher grade in helping the costumers. Now the Seignior Adviser couldn't believe that i had to go through all this and said I'm here to help and i will help, i said sure you will, will see how much you can. Then he tries and tries and in the end NOTHING! since he couldn't do anything he said let me transfer you to much higher which is their Consumer Relations. Now they couldn't believe that i had to go through all this and that they have never heard such story that this had happen to anyone before, there for he was going to help me resolve my issue. Now they have contacted Verizon and Verizon keeps saying the same thing mean while on the Apple system it still shows Locked to Verizon Wireless.

Now what they Verizon and Apple did to try and resolve this issue is Connecting my iPhone 6 to iTunes and have it Factory Restore! ok! so i did as i was told,

now after 30 min of restoring the iPhone to factory settings im back to Activation Screen from beginning.

1. Choose Language - English

2. Choose Region - United States

3. Choose Wi-Fi

4. Sim Not Valid!

there is no other options, either go back or retry, and none has worked. I have done the Restore 5 times with and with out sim card and still same error,

With out the sim card, after choose the Wi-Fi, it says Sim Required, there is no other options only go back and retry.

I put the sim back in and its still says the same

<Back

SIM NOT VALID

The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone s from a carrier that is not Supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

Try Again

Now i cant even go to my home screen what do i do? PLEASE HEP!

I really need to get this iPhone 6 to work, I need help please someone help, they both companies have lied to me Verizon and Apple, and they both not doing a **** thing about it, its been almost 2 months and i haven't been able to enjoy my iPhone, they have got my hard earned $$$$ and they don't send me a new device to have it replaced, I have requested a NEW one since i have paid for new and they Sorry we cant under their Policy and my 14 money back is expired, well its expired because of them not me. they keep on pushing and putting me to wait here and there so time went out and me still without a working device yet they have got my money $$$ 😢

I really need Help Please any suggestions?

I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read and respond to my need.

THANK YOU ALL

If you purchase a phone from Verizon, then if you are in the US, then you can only ever use this phone in the US on Verizon and no other operator because Verizon is a CDMA carrier and in the US, then it is locked to Verizon and if in the US, then you need to have a contract with Verizon to be able to use the phone.

However, the Verizon phone does have a GSM sim card tray and this is unlocked and intended for international travel, so that you can use local sim cards in your phone whilst travelling and no incur international roaming charges.

The problem may be that if you are in the US and you are trying to insert a sim card into the phone to activate it that is a GSM sim card, then this will not work because in the US you will only be able to use the Verizon phone on the Verizon CDMA network and no other. If you put a sim card in, this will be local sim cards that are intended to be used whilst travelling.

Also, don't post personal information on this forum - it is a user to user technical support forum and you are NOT talking to Apple here.

I feel the same way. I lost count of all the misinformation that I saw in this thread e.g. claiming that Verizon's 2320 iPhone policy couldn't possibly include a non-US carrier lock (which it does). And then there was all the talk about "scam sites", when people were simply posting their GSX reports in order to determine the lock status of their phones.

I'm grateful for all the user reports in this thread though, because they pointed me towards the answer for my own iPhone's issue.

The issue here is that all verizon iphone 6's are unlocked for gsm in the us but there are some verizon iphone 6's that can be used internationally but you won't know unless you pay for a gsx report from a third party company. What you have is more than likely a regional locked iphone. It will work with att, tmobile etc but not overseas Or outside the U.S. Apple and verizon don't have answers because they operate in the US and can't tell you why it won't work overseas. Their only business is in the usa. Also if you put a verizon SIM card in an unlocked iphone it will work. My suggestion is to go on e bay and look for verizon iphone 6 unlock service or get an att iphone and unlock it or get an unlocked iphone 6. Don't have apple and verizon running you around and driving you crazy. They don't have an answer for this problem. They will finger point all day. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.

That's VERY BAD advice. I hope no one follows it. DO NOT PAY ANYONE FOR INFORMATION, as there is NO RELIABLE SOURCE of information EXCEPT APPLE. And whatever you do, DO NOT PAY A THIRD PARTY TO UNLOCK YOUR PHONE. All such sites are frauds who will take your money and not deliver a service.

ALL VERIZON IPHONE 6's ARE UNLOCKED WORLDWIDE. If you have one that does not work worldwide there is something wrong with the phone. Either it is damaged or has been hacked or jailbroken.

Alright so I've gone through the same problem though. IPhoneus variant Verizon unlocked not working when using Vodafone sim in india. It's working in Us when using any gsm sim.

So its only Airtel sim In India which is working with iPhone 6 verizon unlocked don't know about other countries.

So if you're in India and have other gsm network then port your number to Airtel which will make your sim work on iPhone 6.

Note:- The reason for the same I was reading somewhere and it says Airtel bandwidth matches the Verizon somehow and all us sim networks when in India takes airtel network to work so this might be the reason.

Hi my name is Jared I work for a Cellular compay trying to use vzw unlocked phone and had a customer port there # and I phone 6 into our company from VZW. Before this I had never had an issue activating an iPhone from VZW. This one though gave us this error with the sim not being compatible, which is how I ended up here. After 5 hours of me and my customer sitting in my store arguing with Apple and verizon about the phone being "locked" we came to the conclusion that vzw is right it's not locked and it had something to do with apple. We didn't get a result within the 5 hours. I activated a loaner product for him and he left. He kept calling the next day and finally got a rep that asked him to try this. Take our sim out, goto settings, cellular, roaming, CDMA international roaming (if your having this issue yours is probably on) turn it off and no more invalid sim error. I'm not sure if this is the same situation but it sounds like it and this is the fix!

"As a Verizon customer moving to AT&T, you're in a great position to reuse your iPhone 5S. You should be able to pop out the SIM card and replace it with a SIM card from AT&T or T-Mobile, turn off CDMA roaming, and you should be able to get AT&T 2G, 3G and even 4G LTE service."

sir Lawrence from what I see, you don't follow the conversation, if we all say that the phone is unlocked in the us and locked for the international don't you think we migh be right? I have the same problem with an iPhone 6 64 gb bought originaly from Apple Store as sim free, I had it replaced one time and now is not working internationally. they still can't do anything so far. and I had this kind of problem before with a phone being looked in USA, I had iPhone 4s bought from sprint with a GSM slot and was not working in the USA except sprint cmda but was working just fine in Europe any network .

Oct 16, 2015 12:15 PM in response to Alin Șchiopu

While it is technologically feasible to lock or unlock an iPhone for specific geographies phones sold as unlocked directly by Apple are unlocked worldwide. And any replacement for an unlocked phone obtained directly from Apple should be unlocked worldwide. If it isn't someone made a mistake and you should take it back to where you exchanged it. Or call Apple. This also applies to any phone unlocked by the carrier it was locked to.

It it does NOT apply to a phone not purchased from Apple or unlocked by anyone other than the carrier the original phone was locked to.

No. You are not right. That is not how iPhone locking works.

Sprint is a CDMA carrier. For quite some time, it has been Sprint's policy that they will not unlock phones for use on any other US carrier. A Sprint iPhone 4S can not be used on any US carrier other than Sprint. If Sprint agrees to unlock it, which they will only do for a current Sprint customer in good standing, it will only work on Non-US GSM carriers.

If you are not s Sprint customer, you never should have purchased a Sprint phone.

Oct 16, 2015 12:29 PM in response to KiltedTim

the Sprint phone was just an another example that some phones can be unlocked for some geographic area and locked for some others, that one was old thing and I did not have any problem because i did not buy the phone from sprint to use in any other US network, it bought it to use for international and was working.CASE CLOSED.

My problem from now is that the currently iphone 6 is locked somehow on verizon, this what apple told me and verizon said to me that is not locked on verizon. and now that phone is somewhere in europe and my dad can't use it. probably the only think I can do is to have the phone return to apple and send me a new that is really unlocked for international use. but is gonna to cost me at least 200$ for the shipping back and forth

Oct 16, 2015 12:35 PM in response to Alin Șchiopu

LTE capable phones sold for use on Verizon are not locked. If you're having a problem using it on a supported GSM carrier, then take it to the genius bar at an Apple Store in the US and have them check it.

Where exactly did you buy the phone you're having problems with? Did you buy a phone in the US with the intent of using it outside of the US?

Oct 16, 2015 12:43 PM in response to KiltedTim

i bought the phone from apple store, but meanwhile i had water damaged and they replaced me the phone with a phone that is apparently from verizon , phone that worked just fine in the usa with tmobile. but now i upgrade it to iphone 6s and i sent the phone to romania for my father to use it, but is not working.

i did some research and i found out that are other people with the same problem, and either apple or verizon couldn't do anything regarding that.

the fact that is bothering me the most is why in the world i got a verizon phone when i had sim free phone from apple store paid full price.
