Not trying to be stupid, or a smart ***, but 1TB is not really 1TB after formatting, etc. I am trying to compare the actual capacities of a 1TB SSD and a 960GB SSD. Just how far apart are the in actual storage capacity? Right now my MBP has a 500GB drive (498.88GB) that is down to 40GB, so it's time to start thinking more storage.
They are 40GB apart. All things being equal, the storage space lost with formatting will be almost the same in a 1Tb drive or a 960Gb drive.
The 1TB drive will still have a bit more space than a 960GB one.
Its really not a relevant comparison.
For what's worth, an external mechanical drive will be much cheaper and offer more space.
