iPhoto keeps crashing while I'm importing photos from iPhone...Help?

Thanks - I get to part 4 above and click 'Rebuild library' and it crashes. I have created other libraries too and they still crash on import.

To be honest I am finding many of my programmes are feeling buggy not sure what updated in the last few weeks as iphoto was working fine at start of Sept. (Pages, and word now do not save - both save and save as go grey when hit and my email no longer accesses my computer when I try to attach/ import). It is extremely frustrating.

Could it be some weird issue with spotlight?

I am running mavericks 10.9.5 and this is iphoto 11 (9.4.3) and word is Word for Mac 2011 (Office for Mac) 14.6.9.

Email is an external provider called fastmail which works like yahoo - just less well known..

Next time iPhoto crashes post the entry for the crashed thread. In your last report it was thread 30 but you didn't include it.

Some things to try:

1 - log into another user account on your Mac and see if the problem persists there. Does it?

2 - boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try there. Any difference?

3 - download and run Etrecheck. Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Hi, i tried what is said above but it only downloaded a few hundred photos before crashing again and every time i open it is crashes again, what can i do???
