Safari upgrade?

I have OSX 10.6.8 on my IMac. Do I need a Safari upgrade? My downloads are really slow, but I do have a slow DSL internet connection.

Imac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You can't upgrade Safari without upgrading OS X.
