Trouble with mouse/clicking since Yosemite upgrade

Since upgrading to Yosemite a couple months ago, I have been unable to click on several buttons on programs and links on webpages. Examples: Unable to click on the Notifications button on Facebook website, unable to click the Save button in the Session Buddy extension for Chrome, unable to click several buttons on the Janetter Pro application. Occasionally the buttons/links will work, but this is maybe for 15 minutes every week at seemingly random intervals. Restarting does not help. Using an external mouse has same results as trackpad. It is very frustrating but I'm able to workaround most of the issues, though I would like a solution.

Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1

Macbook Pro Mid 2010, 320GB 13-inch

2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 4 GB MHz DDR3
