That is not a virus, or any other kind of malware. It is legit software, although it is junk software that should not be used. To remove it, open the K9 app and select the uninstall item in the Help menu.

This software has been seen being installed alongside adware recently. I suspect you probably have that adware installed. For help finding and removing it, see my Adware Removal Guide.

Nope, just junk again, as far as I know. Undoubtedly it has gotten a worse reputation on both platforms because of being bundled with adware.

However, that mitechmate.com site that's calling it a virus is bad!

Thank you so much, this seemed to have solved my problem (fingers crossed!). I have to admit I was a little leary at first with my experience with K9, you did the trick, I really appreciate the help! I had no idea about malware.
