Mail folders empty on Yahoo account

I have a Macbook air running on Yosemite 10.10.1 and an iPhone 5S running on iOS 8.1.2.

On both devices, since few days ago, some Yahoo! Mail subfolders do not show any messages, as if they were empty.

I have tried to delete the Yahoo! Mail account on both devices and to create it again, but it doesn't work, a couple of folders, that were running perfectly before are now empty.

Additionally, if I have an email in the Inbox and move it to one of the failing folders from any of the two devices, it appears to move correctly (actually it becomes the only displayed email in that folder on that device), but then it is not visible on the other device.

I have checked the Yahoo! Mail web page and all the folders appear to be running properly.

Can somebody help me to fix this problem?

Are you still having this issue? I also experienced this issue. I hit the filter button and suddenly all my messages reappeared. Not sure why this worked but it did. I had a mix in read and unread messages so the filter couldn't have been set erongas nothing was showing. Maybe give that a try.

Hi, Drillo73.

Did you configure you Yahoo Mailbox account on your iPhone via "Mail, Contacts,Calendars" app ?

During a setup process there were 2 options - IMAP and POP. Which one did you choose?

Try to recreate Mail Account by choosing OTHER instead of YAHOO.

Provide all the credentials as per below.

The incoming mail server name is imap.mail.yahoo.com

The outgoing mail server name is smtp.mail.yahoo.com

In the Advanced settings turn on SSL:

The incoming mail server port is 993

The outgoing mail server port is 465

Both mail server names require SSL.

The outgoing mail server requires authentication using the same username and password that you used for the incoming mail server.

Please let me know about the results.

Dear Sergeyfromauckland, than you very much for your answer. I tried to follow your steps and I am pretty sure

I made no mistakes, but still it doesn't work. The Inbox and Sent folders are ok, but then I have 11 personal folders where I manually store my old emails. Nine of them work properly on both my iPhone and my Macbook, but two of them appear empty, as if there were no emails there.

My wife has got an iPad and another Yahoo! Mail account and she suffers the same problem with some folders. As I said, this problem appeared only recently and all worked fine before.

Any other ideas?

HI, no, I have not solved the problem. I tried the manual configuration as above described, but nothing changed. They I went back to the automatic one, I waited some days and my iPhone eventually syncronized all the folders, but my iPad does not syncronize teo folders.

I deleted my Yahoo email account and added a new account but as "Other" instead of "Yahoo" and although it took 2 attempts to verify the account it worked all my emails re-appeared
