Firefox does not quit automatically after logging out of my computer

Hey, everyone.

Just curious if anyone has experienced a similar problem as me.

I am working on a G5, running Mac OS X (10.4.8) using the newest verson of Firefox 1.5.07.

Intermittently, I cannot log out of my computer without first closing Firefox.

Shouldn't the computer automatically quit out all programs and complete the log out without giving me an error message saying Firefox is still running?
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate the input.

Yes, it should... happens to me on my Mac mini and on my new 24" iMac... not often... but sometimes.. I have to reboot with the power button... I use Opal or some such to redo permissions and all is better now... good luck...

My G3 does the same thing, I must exit Firefox then shutdown and all is well (is this a feature ?)

There are occasions where an application will halt a log off, restart or shut down. Usually it is for your protection. For example if you have an open application that has an unsaved document open. The open application takes precedent and aborts the log off to bring your attention to the unsaved document, so you don't loose your work.
Usually with a web browser the only thing I can think of that would abort a log off is incomplete downloads. The browser would abort the log off, bring the incomplete downloads to your attention and inquire if you really intended to Quit the app. However, I have noticed that some of the newer browsers with tabbed browsing will abort a quit of the app if multiple tabs are open with pages loaded. (I wish Safari had this feature!) Do you use Fire Fox with tabs? Are multiple tabs open when you have attempted to log off? Is there a dialog box from Fire Fox that you are not noticing? You might try an experiment with just Fire Fox open. Open one webpage and try to log off vs opening multiple pages in tabs and try to log off. I would be interested in your results.
