Network connection was reset

We have been using itunes for some time now, but all of a sudden we get this message, " Itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection was reset." We've looked on this site, but can't find the message or the solution. Actually, we don't have any idea to the meaning of the message let alone considering the solution! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey george & all in Malaysia

I took this from the streamyx website:
SERVICE INTERUPTION
TM Net Sdn Bhd (TM Net) would like to announce that its Internet services, which are experiencing some degradation in performance due to the international link outage caused by the earthquake off Taiwan on December 26th, 2006, will be fully restored by January 20th, 2006.
Restoration work is well mitigated with more than 50% of its services restored to-date. We are pleased to inform customers that TM Net is on track to recover approximately 80 per cent bandwidth capacity for Internet traffic to U.S. by January 12, 2007.
Restoration and / or rerouting of data services is being achieved either by purchasing additional bandwidth from international providers, or capacity swapping with other corresponding carriers.

Personally I think it is a bandwidth issue (I'm no geek so I'm out of my depth here) not an itunes issue. has anyone tried downloading big files from elsewhere? I haven't but I suspect we'll get the same result. I think that we will have to wait till 20/01/2007 to find out if I am right. That'll be quicker than waiting for Apple to respond!!

Greetings,
Well, I've been able to watch a few movie preview in HD. About 100 plus MB. No problem with down loading. Its less than 10 mins. for the downloading. The problems here is that it is not just Asia-Pacific issue, users from other parts of the world also have such problems. I really do hope its cos by the damage of submarine cables. Lets wait and see.

this is the latest from the streamyx site:
The consortium is still fervently working towards the full restoration of the submarine cables affected by the incident. However, due to the bad weather conditions in that area hampering restoration works, we expect the full recovery of our bandwidth capacity for Internet traffic by January 23rd, 2007.

"fervently working" Doesn't sound like the TM I know but what to do? Let's hope it all improves by 23/01.

morning all!

yep, you guessed it, TM, despite fervently working toward full restoration, had this to say on it's website this morning:
"The consortium, which TM is a member of, is still fervently working towards the full restoration of the submarine cables affected by the incident. The consortium has duly informed us that the current bad weather conditions in the affected area are delaying the restoration works in progress. The extensive works undertaken by the consortium include laying new cables as many are experiencing high tension on them; and additional repair works are needed to be performed on several cables damaged by fishing hooks.

In view of these unforeseen circumstances, the consortium has confirmed that the full restoration will be completed by January 29th, 2007. Your patience is much appreciated during this restoration process."

23/01 is now 29/01. I wonder if we'll be getting a reduced fee for a reduced service?

My iTunes is now able to access the store also. It started to work again about the same time that yours did with nothing done on my part. I am also a Hughes satellite user and have been trying to resolve the problem for a few months now. However, I still can not access radio on itunes, I get a network stalled error. Not sure what the fix was.

Hi guys, I'm from Malaysia too. iTunes was working perfectly for me for the past 3 weeks until just a minute ago.

I was downloading an episode for a tv show and it got stuck halfway. Couldnt pause, cancel or delete it so I restarted my mac. After it rebooted, I couldnt connect to itunes anymore.

I've never shut down my mac, only put it to sleep. This is the first time ive restarted my mac in almost a month.

So it cant be a streamyx problem can it? Looks to me like a software problem.
