2009 27" iMAC Screen Issue

I have a 2009 27" iMAC running Yosemite. The lower left 35% or so of my monitor is now darker gray than the remaining screen. Is this something adjustable or fixable, or is this an indication that the monitor is dying?

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Mine is a Mid 2010 27 inch. For a while it flickered and now the left had of the screen is darker , considerably, than the rest of the screen. Should I be concerned that it going to go black?
