iPhone 6 Plus - no option to decline calls

I am facing a strange issue since I migrated tI iPhone 6 Plus from iPhone 4. I used to use the feature for declining calls often. The feature where you could decline the incoming call and send the "can't talk right now" SMS. however since I upgraded I am not getting this option of declining the call.

i do get the option like 40% of time, but not the rest. I get the option for the same caller at times and at time I do not get the option for the same caller. Please see attached images.

Check and see if you get the decline option when you are actively using your phone or before it goes into lock mode after using it. I don't get the decline option when I receive a call while the phone is lock mode.

I just got off the phone with support and I was able to restore "decline" by:

-restart phone

-go to settings, do not disturb

-toggle DND on then off again (scheduled one as well if you have one)

Worked right after that.

WAIT- it did not work. I go the decline button while my phone was UNLOCKED, but LOCKED there is no option.

You are right ifaninvaand I_am_startingtohateApple. This is indeed the case. I get the decline button when the phone is Unlocked but not when it is locked.

I remember, i used to get the option even when the phone was locked in iPhone 4.

Moreover, even when i decline the call and send an SMS - the SMS sending fails invariably! Not even in one case did I notice the SMS send successfully!

As Prasad points out, pressing power button (sleep/wake key) once silences phone, effectively ignoring it. Same effect pressing volume up or down key.

Once silenced, pressing power button again rejects call, sending caller immediately to voice mail -- the equivalent of "Decline".

As others point out, the "Decline" option isn't available onscreen when the phone is locked, but the power and volume buttons provides that capability. (I would not expect these buttons to wear out from using them in this way, as suggested by i_am_startingtohateApple.)

The following 2 links provide useful info on more options on declining/ignoring/replying, including the configurable (and programmable) options of "Do Not Disturb":
