iPhone 6 Plus - no option to decline calls

The feature being on does not guarantee it will work, at least for me.

Check and see if you get the decline option when you are actively using your phone or before it goes into lock mode after using it. I don't get the decline option when I receive a call while the phone is lock mode.

To decline calls - you have to press the Sleep / wake button on the right upper corner - sends the caller to voicemail

But that makes no sense. Why would a feature on my 5s be available there but not on my 6+??? Certainly hitting decline is much easier and less wear and tear on the button...

I just got off the phone with support and I was able to restore "decline" by:

-restart phone

-go to settings, do not disturb

-toggle DND on then off again (scheduled one as well if you have one)

Worked right after that.

WAIT- it did not work. I go the decline button while my phone was UNLOCKED, but LOCKED there is no option.

The SMS will usually work IF

You have a plan that supports texting

The call is coming from a cell phone

The SMS to landlines are more complicated and in my experience - have failed more often than they work

The way to decline an incoming call is to press the sleep button

This is a function of the iOS not the phone per se

i also has same problem, i do not get decline button when phone is locked.

i try a lot to find some setting for this , but fails.

i think this is also a bug in IOS.

SOLVED: To decline an incoming phone, when your phone is in locked mode, press the sleep/wake up button (right top button) twice. After pressing twice, it said ending call and the caller got busy tone.

Note: No voice mail is configured on my phone.

As Prasad points out, pressing power button (sleep/wake key) once silences phone, effectively ignoring it. Same effect pressing volume up or down key.

Once silenced, pressing power button again rejects call, sending caller immediately to voice mail -- the equivalent of "Decline".

As others point out, the "Decline" option isn't available onscreen when the phone is locked, but the power and volume buttons provides that capability. (I would not expect these buttons to wear out from using them in this way, as suggested by i_am_startingtohateApple.)

Pressing twice OMG this works!! This is so common sense in hindsight but hey common sense is not so common as they say so thanks a mill Harun for sharing 🙂

Pressing once silences the call. Pressing it twice declines it which, if you have voicemail, also sends it to voicemail.

Okay, so now I know how to decline a call, but I am amazed that Apple would allow this kind of a UI inconsistency. Why have a decline button when the phone is unlocked, and no decline button when it is locked? It makes no sense.
