160Gb iPod classic dropped music

I have a 160Gb iPod classic. All music dropped out of it one day on its own. It powers on but shows it has no and no empty space. I have hard reset it many times to no avail. I plug it into my computer (Win 7 64 bit) and it is not seen by iTunes (newest version downloaded) in normal OR if it is in disc mode. I have tried three computers, a couple different cords and several different USB ports on each computer. So with that in mind I am unable to restore the iPod with iTunes. The only thing the player shows it has on it is the three factory games but if you select one it restarts the iPod. Windows can see the iPod but if I try to select it windows comes up and says the disc needs formatting. I am to the end of my troubleshooting abilities with this thing.

This same exact thing happened to me ... and I have the IPod Classic 120GB. The same thing the 3 games are there... it is like they did this Software update and now it will not sync properly... it dleted all my songs and I had over 16,000 songs on it with room left to add at least 30 more CD's. So frustrating and the Apple Support guy after waiting on hold for 35 minutes used vulgar language and was downright nasty as I was explaining what happened and the 7 hours I lost today working on it... I will never buy Apple anything every again if they don't fix this. He told me If I don't pay $29.99 he was going to hang up after he called me a dick? That really got me upset! The only difference is that I have Windows 8.1.
