MacBook Pro mgx72ll/a overheating with Parallels
So I recently purchased a brand new 13'' MacBook Pro Retina(Late 2014).I am running OSx 10.9.5. I have a Windows 8.1 Pro VM, using Parallels 10, on it. (I gave the VM 4GB ram) I want to use the VM to play a few throwback games i.e., CidCiv, Backyard baseball, myst. I haven't played any games on it though, because doing a menial task, such as watching a youtube video in chrome, on the VM increases the temperature dramatically.
Base Temp (no vm running): 35°c - 40°c
Temp After starting Parallels: 60°c - 65°c
Watching Youtube Video on chrome in Parallels: 90°c - 100°c
While watching video fan was only going up to a bout 2000 rpm and temp was staying between 85°c - 90°c. So, I manually turned up fan speed to 4000 and that only brought temp down to a bout 70°c, keep in mind all I'm doing is watching a video.
My question is, is this normal? If not, could this be a hardware issue, software issue, or both?
