iPod Touch 5th Gen Won't Show on iTunes or Computer

My parents recently bought me an iPod 5th Gen for my birthday but whenever I plugged it in to add music onto it, it wouldn't appear in my iTunes Library nor in my Computer. When I plug it in, it makes a sound to indicate that it was recognized but I can't find it on Devices or Computer. I've restarted both the iPod and laptop, I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, and I've deleted Apple Software update as I've read on another discussion. I have downloaded music off of my iTunes on it but all of my other music is imported from CD's and cannot be put on the iPod any other way than plugging it in. Please help me! 😟

I had the same problem with mine, and I found a solution that worked.

Check to see which version of iTunes you have. If you have iTunes 12.0.1.26, then you have a beta version that doesn't recognize iPods for some reason. Go to the Apple website and download iTunes 12.0.1. That version was the last "official" update that Apple gave. It shouldn't erase anything or restore anything. Basically the beta version of iTunes I received just had a weird glitch that didn't respond to connected iPods.

Hope this helps!

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

Or

See

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

- I would start with

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

or

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- Then do the other actions of:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

paying special attention to item #5

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

iTunes for Windows: Device Sync Tests
