MP3 CDs won't work in car stereo

Hello. I've tried multiple burning tests with iTunes, Toast, and the Finder. I'm trying to get an MP3 CD to work in my 2007 Mazda 6 (five CD changer). The manual says it will read MP3 CDs, and I am burning MP3s... not AACs. When the CD is loaded into my car, I only get track 1 without any audio. Time does elapse as if it is playing something, but I don't hear anything. If I try to skip to the next track, it stays on track 1. I can even search through track 1... but still no audio.

Has anyone had any luck making an MP3 CD with Mac software? Would you mind listing the steps you took in order to create one? Thank you!

Here's my hardware and software:

iTunes 7.0.1 (up to date)
Toast 6.1.1 (up to date)
Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5
Memorex CD-R 52x blank media
HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B

Here's what I did before my first post:

1 - Burned two songs with iTunes using the MP3 CD option. Maxium Possible speed. Closed and verified the disc.
2 - Burned two songs with the Finder as a data disc. No folders. Maxium Speed Possible.
3 - Burned two songs with Toast as a data disc. Mac & PC option. No folders. Maxium Speed Possible.
4 - Burned two songs with Toast as a data disc. Mac & PC option. No folders. 8x speed.
5 - Burned two songs with Toast as a data disc. Mac & PC option. No folders. 4x speed.
6 - Burned two songs with Toast as a MP3 disc. No folders. Maxium Possible.
7 - Burned two songs with Toast as a MP3 disc. No folders. 8x speed.
8 - Burned two songs with Toast as a MP3 disc. No folders. 4x speed.

I'm out of options on how to test this thing. Before I figure out if MP3 CD players only work with certain burners, cds, etc. I do not have another MP3 CD player to test it on in my house. My car is the only player that reads MP3 CDs. Any more ideas? I really appreciate your help!

I have this problem too, but only after the ITunes update from 7 to 7.0.1. Befoure this update i'll burned many MP3 CD-R and CD-RW and my radio car can read this format too and without problem.
Now, after the ITunes update, with the same kind of CD-R and really the same CD-RW, my radio car can't read and tell me and error. After many time tryed to forced read the CD, sometime go on, but between MP3 song have lot of dificulty to read the next song but without go on error, only if i' put the CD in pause then go on error. With the old MP3 CD and CD-RW made and burned with ITunes 7, the radio car listen regulary and fast without problem.

Now, wath's happen? I never change nothing, I use the same CD kind, maybe the problem is the update? How can I back? can I trash from my library the ITunes preference for change somethings? Now I have a lot of CD to trash too and few time to spent more.

QuickTime7.1.3 ok
The MP3 CD run everywere,
but now (after the update) not in the radio car.
(I'll try all setting too and WITH THE SOME MP3 just burnered befoure the update without listen problem of radio car reading!)

Thanks for every kind of help.

I made this try with Nero on a PC Windows XP:

I transfer on LAN the MP3 files codified with iTunes 7
and MP3 files codified with iTunes 7.0.1, with my G5, to my laptop XP Windows and I burn a CD with Nero Express 6. Then I try it, the MP3 CD run well in the radio car but the song codified with iTunes 7.0.1 have some problem to begin, so much time must pass before beginning like 20 seconds or more. The problems appear only on radio cars.

Thanks

Hello.
I am having a problem making mp3 CDs as well. The cd burns fine and will work in my DVD player. However, when I try it in my portable stereo, the stereo reads the files and then stops at 145 .. then it tells me I have no disk.

Obviously there is something wrong with the player as the mp3 CD plays in the DVD player. But the portable player is brand new, and claims to be able to play mp3 both CD-R and CD-RW (although I'm using CD-R) I have tried other mp3 CDs that I've made, and they work fine.

My question is: Are there tips or things to look out for when making an mp3 CD? The one I made was quite big - 686MB or whatever the max is for iTunes. Is there a size limit? Should I keep folder names short? Anything like this? (by the way, I have checked and am in fact burning it correctly in iTunes - using only mp3 files in the playlist and have my settings on "mp3 CD")

Thanks - any advice would be appreciated.

Hi MJ,
Thanks for your reply. Ok, I see your point. In the future I will just start a new topic.

I have already tried two brands: Verbatim and Mitsubishi. Both disks are 700MB capacity and both have the same problem, the player gets hung-up on song 145 (song 146 is the start of a new album) There are a few albums (folders) on the disk, 146 starts the last one.

And yes, my burning prefs are set to "mp3 CD".

Do you think trial and error is my only option? Different media, take out that song, take out that album, etc? It's just frustrating because it plays in other players.
