New Logic Pro X 10.1 released

Yes, the Core Audio is Enabled. (BTW, when it is unchecked, the Plugin Manager menu item is grayed out.) So none of the Logic manufactured plugins show a checkbox, just an N.A., so where are these plugins housed on my mac? I looked in the User/Library/Application Support/Logic and all the plugin folders with .pst and .plist files are there, along with instrument and other Logic app. files, but where are plugin files themselves housed? I have done a standard vanilla install and do all the updates for MacOSX and LPX, and have downloaded all the additional content too. Any help would be appreciated in trying to figure out what is going on...it is much appreciated...randy

Most 3rd Party AU plugins are normally located in

~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

Note: This is the Library in the root of your System drive.. NOT the User Library...

A few 3rd party AU plugins are sometimes located in the same location but in the User Library instead...

However, the plugins that come with Logic (Like EXS24 for example) are actually a part of the Logic App itself and so are not stored in these locations...

The Apple 1.6.0 plugins are being validated properly.

What did you mean by this? What Apple plugins and where did you get that version number from...

Are you saying you cannot find the EXS24 plugin for example when you click on the Instrument slot in a Software instrument Track?

Or..

Are you asking about 3rd party plugins like NI's Kontakt or U-he's Zebra2 that do not come as part of the basic Logic Pro X install.

Sorry, but it's not clear exactly which plugins you are not seeing...

Maybe you could post up a screenshot of your Plugin Manager showing the plugins that are N/A?

Did you successfully download all the additional and essential content via the menu option Download Additional Content?

Does the Download window show everything correctly installed? (ie.. it doesnt say Outdated for example)

I looked at the root library first, but the root/library/audio/plugins only has other apple app resources, not Logic (for example the VST folder is empty). There is a duplicate folder in the root/library/application support/logic folder, that is identical to the one in my user/library/application support/logic folder, which seems odd that it would need the same files in both the root and user libraries. Thanx for your help figuring this out.

I can select all the plugins in for each track (i.e. ESX24) so if they are part of the app, then I understand why they are not in a plugin folder somewhere. Here is the screen shot of my Plugin Manager showing the Apple plugins validated and the Logic plugins showing N.A. Thanx...randy

No.. I have the latest GB installed too without issue..

So...

One more thing to try out....

Please download BatCHMod from here...

Download BatChmod 1.6.3

Now open BatCHMod,

Click the File button and select your Logic Pro X app...

Now set up Batchmod Exactly like this...

and click Apply....

Wait at least 1 minute (important....) and then quit batchmod

Now restart your Mac....

Test LPX

Two other things..

In Logic's prefs...Uncheck core audio and quit LPX...

Now launch LPX and turn on CoreAudio again and then test....

Finally if you havent done so already...

1. Quit Logic Pro
2. In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
3. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
4. Press the Go button.
5. Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
6. If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
7. Restart the computer.

Note: if you cannot find any of these files then you didn't follow the instructions exactly as described! 🙂

I ran BatCHMod three times to be sure, also cycled CoreAudio several times and restarted each time, and removed the .plist and .cs files and restarted. I also ran DiskUtilities and ran disk permissions. The Logic plugins still show N.A. as before...sorry none of these worked, but thank you for your advice...the same N.A. for all Logic plugins are indicated on my MacBookAir and new iMac...odd indeed.

The 'tilde' (~/) takes you to the User Home Folder Library rather than the 'root' (Startup Disk) Library. The path should read

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

Yes, I was absolutely incorrect... I copy and pasted from another post and was stupidly tired when I did so..

Apologies...

So, the only thing I can think of, that is left to try.... given everything you have done... is to delete the Logic Pro X app from the Applications folder, empty trash....restart your Mac...and re-download LPX from the Purchases Tab in the Mac App; Store app....

If that doesn't work and unless anyone else here has any further ideas.... then the next step is to contact Apple directly and ask for assistance.

I was aware that the tilde Library was my user account library, I checked both to no avail. I deleted the LPX app, deleted the associated pref files, restarted and reinstalled and the Logic plugins still show N.A. Just to be clear, are your Logic manufactured plugins showing a check box instead of the N.A. that my two Macs show in the image above? Since the Plugin Manager is new, I wouldn't have seen the plugins in this window before the update so it may not be a new issue (for me at least). Thanx for your persistence with my issue, it is much appreciated. I will contact Apple to see if others have reported this issue, and how to address it. What is strange is that it is happening on both my Macs...but I do have similar applications installed on both in case there is some sort of unknown conflict. I would be very interested if others see these Logic plugins in the Plugin Manager, and if their compatibility is successfully verified.

NA doesn't mean Not Available... It means Not Applicable.....

Thats because Logic's own plugins are not stored like other AU Plugins.... as i tried to explain earlier...

The Logic plugins are installed.... they just don't get scanned in the Plugin Manager....

If it's only Logic Plugins you are seeing NA with, thats completely normal.

Apple plugins will be listed as Successfully Validated

3rd party AU plugins should be listed as Successfully Validated

Logic's own internal Plugins will be listed as as NA

This is why i asked earlier if the EXS24 was showing up in the instrument list......
