Are any of you having this problem??

I have the ios 6 plus and I can open a text message find and read all of the messages, however I must have done a swipe of the finger or something different that what I usually do...but I can not respond...the text box is not showing up. Can anyone help me out with how I can fix this?

This happens to me every single day multiple times per day, and did not start up again until recently. Apple actually replaced my iPhone 7 Plus because of this problem and several other software problems that could not be fixed. Now it’s happening again. It completely removes the functionality of the messages app which is critical for many.

It is completely unacceptable to have to reboot the entire phone or to reboot messages or uninstall and reinstall messages every time this happens. Apple needs to fix this right now. I’m sick and tired of Apple rolling out releases that don’t work and then we’re all supposed to scramble around and try to figure out how to make their product work.

I’ve had an iPhone from very early on, used to love them and would never dream of going to android, but Apple has seriously dropped the ball on their product development and support. This problem has been going on for three years? Still no resolution? Still no response from Apple? iPhone 7 Plus is going to be the cure me of my Apple problem.

Yes, Apple needs to be monitoring these threads. I have repeatedly called about this issue, for years now, and with no fix! Perhaps this is why iphone sales are down. Honestly, it is really frustrating especially when the same problem continues to occur year after year. There is no excuse!

This is what i've found that works for me. I open apps to see what i have open, "double tap on the home button", this will show you what apps you have open. I think that when there are too many apps open it causes the issue that drives us all crazy. I close them be just "swiping up", i've found that i have had as many as a dozen + apps open and didn't realize it. Hey, it works for me. Good luck!

close out of the message app, double tap the home button and completely close out of it.

Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

Then check message again.

I use iPhone 7 Plus, and it also happens to me at least once a day. It has been happening since iOS 11 release. I am now on 11.2.2 and it still happens. Booting helps it, but it is definitely a drag to keep booting it, specially when I am in the middle of exchanging important messages. A real slow down. I have reported this to Apple’s iPhone feedback. Perhaps if more people let Apple know about this issue... at least, I see now this issue is not isolated to my iPhone only. Thank you for your posting!

This happens to me multiple times a day on my 10.5 ipad pro. I force close imessages, reopen and its back. I backed up, wiped device, restored, no help. I wiped and setup ipad as a new device, no help. It has never happened on my 6splus nor X (both of which have/had ios 11), but happens chronically on my IPP. I thought I was the only one this was happening to, because support didnt seem to have heard of this.

I use imessages all day every day for personal and professional messaging. This is killing me.

I have this recurring problem also on my 8plus/iOS 11.2.5. Yes, reseting/turning it off and back on works, the last two times i've double tapped the home button and cleared out history, swipe upward and closing out history in safari. then went back into text and the dialog box was there.

Hi - It is end of March, 2018 and my 7+ still does this little trick as well. It IS annoying. I have update 11.2.6.

Dear APPLE - please do something to fix this issue. How many open apps in background are too many? Maybe you could make the software allow only 10 open background apps to run at one time? I love my music and my other devices like Apple TV and don't want to change to Android again. Everyone I know with an iphone seems to have this same issue and they all complain about it.
