iMessage won't verify my Email address

So I've tried pretty much every solution and I've spent easily over 6 hours working on this. I'm not sure what else to do. I've tried the solutions from this page:

Verifying FaceTime and iMessage

Date and time set to automatic

Location services on

Network settings reset multiple times

All settings reset

Hard reset by holding sleep button and home button, multiple times

Tried disabling iMessage but can't because iMessage login screen won't let me disable it

Set restrictions on Facetime (Facetime won't verify either) - hard reset - took off all restrictions

I've tried everything, someone please help me? I'm about to throw this thing out the window. I'm only really doing this because I don't want to lose my text messages.

I think I have resolved this issue, at least for my particular situation. The email address I was trying to add was an email that was tied to my Apple ID. My daughter now has her own, so we were trying to attach her old email address to her Apple ID. Every time I tried to verify the address, I wouldn't receive the email. I resolved the issue by removing the email address from my Apple ID account by going to System Preferences>iCloud>Account Details>Contact. Once I removed the email address from my Apple ID account, I was able to receive the verification email when tying it to my daughter's Apple ID.

Did you get this figured out?

My daughter uses an old iPod touch 4th gen with iOS 6.1.6 and has been having problems with iMessage and FaceTime since about Sunday, 1/25/15. iMessage just stopped sending/receiving messages. We hadn't changed any settings to my knowledge. In trying to fix it, I realized we're having the same problem with FaceTime. On the log in screen, I type in the password, then I pick the email address to use, then it says verifying, but then it takes me back to the log in screen every time. I have tried all of the fixes I can find. I'm wondering if Apple just isn't supporting iMessage on the older iOS now? Which would be super annoying because it's only a little over three years old, I think.
