I have the same problem - it's actually my son's printer that he's using in college and he came to me saying it stopped working after upgrading OS X. This is a cheap as dirt black and white laser printer that was clearanced out at about $30 and Pantum have *zero* interest in updating the old 2013 driver. I've tried all the usual tricks (resetting the printing system, reinstalling the driver after booting into the recovery partition and entering "csrutil disable", GutenPrint etc.).

I think this is an Apple-induced thing i.e. they're making my life so much more secure with all this code signing, sandboxing and system integrity protection that they're basically ensuring all perfectly working old printers connected to Macs find their way to the nearest landfill.

Does anybody out there know how to monkey with the driver file locations and permissions (or maybe graft in an older OS printer framework) to make this work?

It is not Apple's responsibility to fix the Pantum driver even though it was their OS X upgrade that broke it. This is an annoyance that all printer manufacturers have when an OS is upgraded - they can either update the drivers for their old(er) printers or just take the easy way out and declare them obsolete. In this case, Pantum couldn't be bothered fixing the drivers for such printers (mine was purchased only 2 years ago). This is what separates the good printer manufacturers from the bad ones... I also heard from a high level specialist about my printer and his answer was they wouldn't be updating the driver :-(.

I agree, It IS absolutely Pantum's (or any manufacturer's) responsibility, and not Apple's when it comes to the drivers. I am simply pointing out that I read about the driver being out of date for the current OS so I have tried the installation on an older MaC running an OLDER OS, 10.6.8, and it still doesn't work. I used the CD provided with the printer, the drivers from their website (both US and global versions), and i even downloaded a driver from a 3rd party website for this model. So......It seems to me that the issue is deeper than just an outdated driver.

Pantum's Tier 2 "specialist" (notice I use quotations) immediately told me that he is familiar with this problem, and I must contact apple so they can provide assistance. Seemed odd that he would immediately throw the ball to apple so I wanted to know if this is even worth pursuing, and/or if anyone has had any success using an older OS, older versions of the driver, or even a driver originally meant for a different model, etc.

I just purchased the printer 3/24/16 from a local retailer, the printer is also offered through Amazon prime, so it is still being stocked and sold. It works fine on Windows 10 and Windows 7.
