Question

10.10.2 Combo update "can't be installed on this disk"

Running the 10.10.2 Yosemite combo update on three different machines.

Get to the point where the dialog allows me to "select a destination".

ALL volumes have a yellow exclamation point that says:

"OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

What are the requirements? I do have FV2 running on boot volumes. Is that it? Must I decrypt to install?

2.93 i7 iMac, 2.6 iMac, 2.6 MBP, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Your profile says you are currently running OS X 10.6.4 Is that correct?

Yikes! I have updated my profile.

I'm currently running 10.10.1 on all three systems. 10.6.4 was not correct.

And you were not running a beta copy of Yosemite?

I am not currently running and have not run beta OS X on these machines.

System version OS X 10.10.1 (14B25)

Same problem. Running 10.10.1. 98mb disk space available. Downloaded and attempted to install 10.10.2 combo update. Says it can't be installed on my disk.

Updated through the App Store, but would like to run Combo.

Ideas?

I have the same problem on two different machines, both with 10.10.1 installed. One also has 10.10.0 on a separate drive and the Combo updater will only allow the install on that drive. Looks like Combo update is only for 10.10.0... ***?

You're right! If you go to the link of the combo update, scroll down and click on the requirements you will see that it says 10.10. So probably Apple sadly doesn't allow us to install it in later versions of OS X anymore 😟

Although you should clear some space for installation, I have no less than 150GB free on my three systems.

What would make you think that? Are you saying that nobody downloads the delta update from the App Store? I think your assumptions are without foundation. Or do you have a link to figures that support your statement?

I figured it would, but fell back and installed from the App Store to provide another data point. All three machines are updating now.
