How to transfer iPhone contact to gmail?

Have you enabled iCloud on your iPhone? You can make use of the iCloud to transfer contacts to gmail:
Step 1. Tap Settings > iCloud, sign in with your iCloud account. And swipe Contacts to ON.
Step 2. Open www.icloud.com on your computer via a web browser. After then click Contacts. On the left side, there is gear icon. Click it to export your contacts as a VCF file.
Step 3. Open Gmail on your computer. Click Gmail at the top-left corner of your Gmail page, then choose Contacts. Click the More actions dropdown menu and select Import.... Click the Choose File button and locate the VCF file you'd like to upload.
I just found a quick way. Make sure you're using google for contacts on your Mac. Open contacts. Select "All Google". Then select all the contacts under "All Google" on the right hand side. Drag them to "All iCloud". Boom.

I have a quick question - I've still got my contacts set up the same way as I did after all your help (so, the iCloud sync is turned off). The problem I'm having is that if someone new texts or calls, I can save their number fine, and it creates a new contact for them. However, if I try to edit a contact (either a new or old one) by adding a postal/physical address, when I click 'Save/Done', the address disappears and isn't stored onto the contact. Do you know why that might be? Thanks 🙂

Just to let you guy's know. It IS browser related, it wont work in CHROME but does in firefox here on my PC running windows 10.
So as has been said before. Log into icloud -> gear bottom left -> select all -> export vCard
All done!
cannot download vcard from icloud on my windows10..it does nothing when i press the export vcard button
