Q: Frequent kernel panics-Who can decypher/help?

Iv'e had a number of them since about October.  I've read a lot about KP's and I've done a LOT of troubleshooting, yet.  I know the first question will be, "what have I done?", but I don't have time to start that epic novel right now.  But I'd be happy to give specific details when requested.  My question is: should I go ahead and copy/paste all 12 reports here or is that just irritating?  Maybe someone can see a common thread, or smoking gun,or a blatant, in-your-face "your problem is obvious" kinda thing by looking at them all at once, rather than just the most recent one.  If this seems like something this forum wants to help with, let me know and I'll proceed.  Tx-IA.

    Kernel Panic reports

Post the kernel panic so it can be analyzed

It would be useful to also post the output from EtreCheck

    <https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174>

And you might even look at all the 3rd party additions you have installed and see if any of them are no longer needed.  Anti-Malware is almost never needed, and is a very frequent cause of kernel panics.  Mac cleaners and memory cleaners are also not needed and are frequently the cause of Mac slowdowns.

    ...Post the kernel panic...

actually, panicS, plural, 12 of them.  Looking for a "a common thread".  I'll post the text of the most recent below.

    ...Anti-Malware...

    None.

    ...Mac cleaners and memory cleaners...

    None.

    ...3rd party additions...

Like, Adobe Flash Player?  Not a big downloader of non-apple software, and I only have an external (FW) HDD, and an external (USB) Optical Drive.

Guess that's where the EtreCheck report comes in handy.

    ...output from EtreCheck...

Note: While EtreCheck has been reported to work on Snow Leopard, it is not supported on that version of OS X. Some features are known not to work.

I might just go ahead and give it a try.  I'll let you know.

Latest panic:  (I'll send as many of these as you like...)

If you are using Firefox, try quitting it and use Safari for awhile.

OK.  Short and sweet.  Firefox sleeps while I'm on Safari.  Why?

I can only assume you're sending that advice based on this line in the report:

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: firefox

I also have these lines in other panic reports, too.  Hopefully I won't have to stop using the Dock and Finder?

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: DashboardClient

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Dock

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: launchd

Try removing and reseating the RAM sticks.

    Run Rember several times.

I've run TechTool Deluxe and Rember and they report no problem with the RAM.  But I will run Rember, again, several times, like how many, would you suggest?

Shall do and will report, as long as I won't wake up with a melted MBP!

My computer is set to sleep after 10 min. w/ power adapter in, will that affect Rember's progress in any way?

I would set the sleep to never while running the test just to make sure it doesn't get interrupted.

Will do.  BTW - another Panic last night.  First Safari crashed, then panic.  The only common thing is that they usually happen at night.  I don't use the computer a lot, nothing super-intensive, mostly email and web surfing.  FWIW:

    Rember Test Results

    All tests passed!

    Total built-in memory: 2 GB

This is the total amount of physical memory that the computer has installed.  If this figure is not showing the correct amount of memory there may be a problem with one or more installed DIMMS.

    Available memory: 1390 MB

Available memory is the amount of physical memory that is currently not in use by any other processes.  All available memory will be used for testing when the "All" option is selected. To increase the amount of available memory, you can restart your computer before testing. If you are familiar with the command line (CLI), you can run memtest (the core of Rember) in single-user mode. See Rember help, or http://www.memtestosx.org for more information.

    Requested amount: All MB

The total amount of memory requested for testing by the Rember application. Not all requested memory can be allocated for testing. See information on "Available memory" for more information.

Memory allocated for testing: 1390 MB

This is the total amount of memory that memtest was able to allocate for testing.  See "Available memory" section for more information.

    -------

    Loops selected: 10

Total loops selected by user for testing. All loops should complete when testing is successful. Test failure when the "Continue on Error" preference is selected will cancel tests before this number of loops has been completed. Users can also cancel testing before this number is reached.

    Loops completed: 10

Total loops completed by memtest.  Note that the Rember is not always able to identify how many loops ran.  If there are discrepancies between this and the loops selected, the log should be examined to determine exactly how many loops were performed.

    -------

Total execution time: All tests passed!  Execution time: 15620  seconds

This is the total amount of time that it took to execute the selected tests. Execution time may vary from system to system, and is provided as a guide for determining how long users can expect tests to run based on the amount of memory installed on the system.

    Testing start time: 2015-02-01 09:56:56 -0700

Run EtreCheck. And despite the report from Rember, take the RAM sticks out and reseat them anyway.

Run the Hardware Test several times in extended mode. (It will duplicate the RAM testing, which is the most time consuming, but no way around that).

I'm not seeing anything there to be concerned about, but you might try temporarily disabling the iSightAudio. I see you have Java installed. For security reasons, do not keep Java enabled in your browser.

Also try running for a while with all peripherals disconnected, except for keyboard/mouse--if those are wired.
