logic pro x was not able to complete the download. check your internet connection and try downloading again.

Have upgraded from 10.06 to 10.10 and am trying to download new additional content; keep getting message: logic pro x was not able to complete the download. check your internet connection and try downloading again.

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection.

Have seen a similar thread before, but although deemed solved for someone else, by rebooting in safe mode and verifying permissions and disk, this did not work for me...

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Alan

Tips can be found here...

Downloading 'Additional Content' or the Logic Pro X app Tips

Take note in particular of the tips regarding Energy Saving settings and WiFi

The most common problems are usually related to Intranet (not Internet) issues (problems with your home network.. especially if you are using WiFi.. Try Ethernet instead if possible)

Some Internet providers limit the Max size of any one file when downloading... for certain groups of users... depending on what type of account/Package they have signed up for...(BT in the UK is a good example of this)

Issues with routing to and from Akamai Servers (The company Apple uses to store some of it's data on..) Solution is to try at a different time of day or night... or a different day altogether... This is often reported by European based users....

Issues with Non Apple Routers..... Not all routers are equal! 🙂

Conflicts with other applications running at the same time as the download in being done... Various types of adware can affect such things.. Check out Adwaremedic...

Issues with their File system..... User accounts and so on....

Oddly enough many people have said ...

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection.

But frankly they wouldn't know if that were true or not because they base that opinion on routing to and from different locations... or the transfer of different types of files.. Just because they can download okay from other servers.. or their webpages load ok or they get email without an issue, often has no bearing on this issue at all...

and.. more often than not, in the end, it has been found it was issues with their Internet or Intranet or their Mac's File system/User account that was the root cause of the problem...

Read into that what you will....

One additonal tip that helped a client of mine when he had such issues..

Make a careful note of the time when the download/install fails...

Now open the Console application in your utilities folder.. and look through the various logs there for an issues that occurred at that exact or close to it, time.. you noted down. That can often give a clue as to the true cause...

Also, when the download goes to install it should ask for your 'computer' (not Apple ID) password.. If it doesn't reach that stage, let us know...

Hi "Art",

I had done most of what you said already, but I went through the rest of it and it turned out to be Little Snitch that was preventing the initial download, so, thanks for that.

I turned off Little snitch and the download started fine... however, it then got to five seconds before the end and froze and has been like that for about an hour... it never got to the install stage :-(

I force quitted Logic and restarted, this time it asked me if I wanted to resume install, it has been installing and indexing apple loops as I type...

Console logs are a bit foreign to me, but there were some "host is down" messages next to Logic X and Calendar Agent; I'm guessing this probably indictes a problem at Apple's end...?

Anyway, I think we're there now.

Thanks very much!

Alan
