127kbps?? Itunes playing a mp3 downloaded using QT, "save as source"

When I use Quicktime Pro to download an mp3 I right-click and choose, "save as source" to my desktop. It saves it as a Quicktime file, and its only 127kbps (which is weird), so I go ahead and "get info" change it to open with Itunes, and then Itunes plays it. Cool!

BUT, during the playing of the song after a while it will start to "skip" and insert blank pieces of silence etc, little artifacts VERY audible.

SO, instead I tried to just use safari's ability to download. I choose,"download linked file" and download it to desktop, and tnow that will be an itunes file, which plays fine in Itunes, with no skips or artifacts, little blanks of silence, etc.

So whats going on here. I htought the ability to download using quicktime pro was nice. But its acting wierd on some of these files that I download.

A little bit of extra info:
I also know that the files being downloaded, which casue me this trouble were recorded using Sony Sound forge and converted to a 128kbps MP3.

So why the 127kbps?

And why the skips, and junk etc?

Obviously iTunes doesn't recognize the audio files of it's relative well enough to decide how to handle them.
As far as iTunes is concerned the file has the wrong creator and type of file.

This page discusses the problem and there's a script too that can correct the file type and creator.

Hope this helps.
