No audio with Bluetooth (Ford Sync) - iPhone 5s

My iPhone 5s is running 8.1.3. The phone has worked consistently with Sync in my Ford Fusion since I got it, until Sunday, when it connected but no audio is transmitted. Music on my phone progresses in time and when I make calls, the other person can hear me speaking, but no audio is sent via Bluetooth. I have already tried master resetting the Sync, and other phones connect to Sync. I have rebooted my phone, deleted the Sync connection and reconnected it and nothing is fixing the audio problem. The volume on the phone is turned up all the way, and there's no volume in the car at any level.

I know a lot of people had trouble with this earlier with iOS 8 but this problem is new from this weekend.

I can confirm this worked on a Ford Kuga 2013 model as well. We had the iPhone 5S succesfully paired but when we received a call, the audio was not automatically transferred to the speaker system (no ringing on the speakers, no voice). In this case we had to take the phone, select as audio source the iphone and then again "sync", then it worked. However, while driving this is not safe. We tried above solution, disconnected the battery (red cable only) for 10 sec and reconnected. The phone pairing was by the way kept, and it worked right away as it is supposed to. Thanks for the hint!

Hi,

I'm experiencing the exact same issue as yourself with my Ford Kuga. My wife and I have Apple iphone 5s with 8.1.3, and both have the audio issues. Audio was working fine and then just stopped about 2 weeks ago. I removed and reconnected with no success. I phoned Ford and they say there are no updates for the car.

What's has Apple done??????

Hi

Same issue with me on My Ford Fiesta. Worked fine yesterday with 8.1.2, upgraded last night to 8.1.3 and no music plays through the car speakers. I tried everything including the Master Reset and restoring the iPhone.

I really wish I hadn't left it late to upgrade to 8.1.3 as now there is now no possibility of downgrading.

Will Apple bother to do anything? I don't think so, to busy with the Apple Watch.

New car so when phone contract is up will have to go to Android. Had an iPhone since the original. Loved using Ford Sync as well, only had a line in on my last car.

I too had this problem - Ford Mondeo (Fusion in USA) (2012) and Iphone 5s - connects OK via blutooth, dials OK but no sound either way.

I disconnected / reconnected the battery - but the problem remained.

Eventually, I enabled and set up Siri.

Once Siri worked OK - so did the Ford Audio system and I could hear callers/they could hear me..

Hope this is of use to someone with same issue...

This is now happening to us. 2011 Ford Edge has worked fine all along. All of a sudden, we cannot hear the callers when we answer the calls through the Sync in the vehicle. We can dial out and hear them fine. It only happens when they call us. So frustrating that Fords answers all require disconnecting the battery of the vehicle which then resets a lot of things and random things then don't work again. Kind of like formatting a computer when you have to reset all your personalized settings back up again. The car is not here right now but when it gets back, will try some steps to see what works and report back.
