Textnow virus

I Installed the second version of this app and I guess it has a virus? I read a view that after deletion it sends out a virus and messes with the iMessage? Is this possible? I've read a lot of questions regarding these, and people seem to jump to conclusions, but I'm a cautious person. I would just like to be on the safe side.

Is it possible?

If I delete it and a "virus" is unleashed, would a reset work? Would I even be able to reset?

I have an iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2.

Story:

I got textnow because sometime from now I won't be able to text and call. When I installed it, I told my boyfriend and he said there was a virus on it. (There are two versions, the first wouldn't download so I went to the second.) I didn't believe him, so I skimmed through the reviews and found one that spoke about there being a virus. I read it, and I guess this person thought it took up to much space and deleted it. After she/he did this, they became unable to send messages on iMessage as a result of textnow. Text now and the date of deletion was viewed instead on iMessage (I don't know much of this or whether it is even happening, but I just don't want to deal with this, and I want to know what to do if this does happen.)
