Hi
For a list of devices that can be used with any given currently available Apple power adapter, click on Compatibility on the product page in the Apple Online Store. For example:

"nonsense" is a bit strong. I have 4 iPod Classics, (not for sale), they are all fussy about how they get charged. I have a drawer full of USB chargers, most have excellent reviews on Amazon and they DO charge all of the products I own including, many iPhones, iPads, and an Apple Watch. But for reasons I don't understand NONE of these will charge ANY of my iPods Classics. With great difficulty, I finally found vehicle charger that works and I have to use the chargers mentioned above in order to charge from the AC mains.
As you can see others have similar problems.
iPod Classic will not charge from wall outlet
my ipod classic does not SEEM to charge using my APPLE charger but my SHUFFLE does????
Like you, I enjoy having a dedicated music player, but at this point Apple has forgotten us.
This is a user-to-user forum, not regularly monitored by Apple. Apple never responds in it, and certainly not for something so trivial.

Well, if you read the entire thread you will know why no one answered specifically.
Thanks to everyone for your replies. I guess no one from Apple is going to respond. It is quite confusing trying to figure out the correct adapters to use if the part numbers change without any explanation.
These two power supplies are somewhat unique. Due to a software bug, the iPod Classic is fussy about what type of charger it will utilize. These are the only two, 120 VAC units that will reliably charge an iPod Classic.
I also use them with an iPhone VI.

Absolute nonsense. I charge my 3 iPod Classics with whatever USB power source I have handy, including these two, an 10 W iPad adapter a 12W iPad adapter, the USB port on my computer, my 3 iPod player docks, or the USB port in my car.
And neither of these are 120 VAC adapters. All Apple power supplies are universal; 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60Hz.
Why did Apple change the number of the adapter? Was it redesigned?
hope this will help you
They are the same in terms of specs, but the A1265 is an older model.

We as users would have no way of knowing. Probably an internal design change.
