What's the best 4K monitor for 2014 mac mini ?

I am planning to buy 2014 Mac mini and at the same time is thinking of upgrading my monitor. Currently I have a ASUS 23 inch HD monitor. I am planning to upgrade to 4K monitor. As I understand from various discussions on the web, 2014 Mac mini only supports 4K with 30Hz and not 60Hz.

So, can you guys give me good suggestion for a monitor that would work with 2014 Mac mini. Also, did any of you experienced any issues when using the 4K monitor with 2014 Mac mini.

You may be a candidate for a Retina iMac, considering the cost of high quality Retina displays the Retina iMac is a bargain.

The cost of iMac is way out of my budget. It is more than double the cost of mac mini that I intended to buy.

I am contemplating on not buying a 4K monitor as I don't think I would be happy with refresh rate 30Hz. I think I would buy a 2560 x 1440 resolution monitor with the mac mini. That should be good for next 3-4 years, after that I can think about upgrading to a 4K monitor. Also, by that time, the cost of 4K should be significantly lower than what it is now.

That being said, then you don't seem to be a good candidate 4K display if you still want a MM. Perhaps you may want to consider saving up to get the Retina iMac or even an Apple refurbished iMac which are available starting at $1479.

It depends upon your use. Motion picture film is/was 24 frames per second which corresponds to 24 Hz.

The expectation of wanting to use a 4K monitor with a MacMini (high tech monitor with low tech computer) seems flawed. Save up for an iMac 5k.

If you decide to go with a 2560 x 1440 Monitor a real good candidate for you might be a HP Envy 32 which is very reasonable priced.

I own two of them. I Use one with my 2012 Mac mini and the second with a 2010 iMac as Dual Monitor Set Up.

I also own a Thunderbolt Display and the Envy 32 almost puts that to shame.
